How to keep clean to prevent the spread of Covid-19
Covid-19; the word that's on everyone's minds right now and for all the wrong reasons, too. Coronavirus Covid-19 is new virus that originated in the Chinese province of Wuhan and is highly contagious. It can be easily passed on, unknowingly, to others via small droplets - such as when you speak or cough, with symptoms appearing from 1 to 14 days. These droplets can be carried on our hands, faces, mouths, clothes and shopping, and can stay 'alive' from as little as a few hours to several days. We can all do our bit by staying at home and only going out when necessary, but when we do need to go out for essential food supplies or to pick up medicine, we could be; encountering others who are asymptomatic or touching unclean surfaces which the virus could be lingering on. In today's blog post, we will give you our top tips on how to keep clean to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

Wash Your Hands
When you leave the house to go outside for essential items, you must wash your hands. When you enter your home from the outside, you must wash your hands. Washing your hands with warm water and soap for at least 20 seconds is the most effective way to kill any germs or virus, including Covid-19, that maybe on your hands. Catch Your Sneeze
Always catch your sneeze and cough into a tissue or into the crook of your elbow. Once done, bin your tissue and then immediately wash your hands following the steps above.


Wear a Mask and Gloves
We know that Covid-19 is airborne and we have to do our best to stop the spread of this highly contagious virus. When you are out and about, you should wear a mask that covers your nose and mouth (a scarf can also work) and wear gloves to protect you from touching unclean surfaces.

Any surface that has been commonly touched such as light switches, door handles, cupboards and worktops should be sanitised often. Covid-19 and other viruses can stay dormant on door handles from hours to several days. To prevent the spread of Covid-19, you should ensure that all of these high risk areas are disinfected frequently. 


Wash Clothes At 60°C
Ensuring that your clothes are clean and virus-free is another cleaning hack to prevent the spread of Covid-19. Susan Fermor of leading washing brand Dr Beckmann states that we should be washing our clothes at 60°C to kill bacteria.
