5 Ways to Keep Your Home Coronavirus Free

There are so many of us right now scouring the internet for the best advice to kill Coronavirus Covid-19 around the home and 'yummy mummy', Sam, is no exception. Sam, a business entrepreneur, shares her busy household with her tech-savvy husband and two daughters. Sam has kindly taken time out of her busy schedule whilst in lockdown to gives us her advice on '5 Ways to Keep Your Home Coronavirus Free'.

Imagine Covid-19 is glitter – one little sprinkle and it goes everywhere.  Pick up something covered in loose glitter and its particles will fly and spread in all directions.  This will help you understand how viruses (and bacteria), including Coronavirus Covid-19, can spread – all they need is to be moved, dislodged from where there are currently living, and shifted to somewhere else, to grow again.  The virus by its very nature wants to multiply and grow.  Nature’s strategy of survival of the fittest, perhaps.

We know Coronavirus is highly transferable from person to person via our hands, or airborne droplets. We’ve got to keep everything clean, anything that hands touch and other hands may come into contact with.

1. Wash Your Hands

Hence the best way to prevent the spread is by washing your hands, in hot-as-you-can-take water.  Soap helps to break down the fatty protective layer of the virus cells, and ultimately destroys the cell.

2. Alcohol Based Hand Sanitiser

The next best thing to soap and water is alcohol-based hand sanitiser.  Soap and water first, hand sanitiser if you don’t have soap and water.

3. Bleach & Disinfecting Solutions

You can also achieve the same with bleach and disinfecting solutions.  But this doesn’t work on everything – from electronics to cartons, packages and boxes to fresh fruit, veg and food items.

4. Disinfecting / Anti-Bacterial Wipes

Instead of solution you can take the quicker route and go for disinfecting wipes, but take your time to catch them all.

If your washing machine has a ‘steam clean’ setting then use it.  Plus plenty of make-at-home kits and solutions you can conjure up in your kitchen, if you have the time.

5. LiteZapp UVC Deep Clean

The last way and the most fun, for a lazy girl like me (Sundays are for lie-ins, not for 12 hours of deep cleaning) is with my LiteZapp!! Let me share with you - my ultimate sanitising hack for this year.  With the Covid-19 pandemic sweeping the globe, I too, like most people have become intensely anxious about sanitising everything.  Especially if I leave the house, I do feel like I am a throbbing giant corona-magnet and everything I bring into the house is now infected! I came across this through my friend who saw LiteZapp on the socials and told me about it.

It’s like a magic wand that you hover and spread over anything in your home (except other humans and pets), and it provides a really deep clean from the UVC light. UV light is pretty well known and has been used for deep sanitation in hospitals and healthcare for decades.

From the steady stream of boxes that arrive daily – which may have passed many hands on their way – we pick up our wand and zap them at the door, killing bacteria dead.  My groceries and anything coming into the house gets disinfected at the door. With the door, and the doorbell, the letter box and the door itself.  My children like to say we have an invisible shield against Coronavirus and prompt us all to make sure we zap before coming in.  I still walk through the door and wash my hands, there is no substitute for that.  But now all my bags, groceries and stuff I’m bringing in gets sanitised and put away in its place, bacteria, germ and virus-free.  Happy Days.

It is quick and easy.  Gives me my piece of mind, if we ever do bring anything back into the house, then we zap it away.  Think of all those things that are a hassle to sanitise every day like the soles of your shoes (where virus can breed), or your keys, or your wallet (coins and cash).  When you leave the stores, gloves or not, the germs could be all over your door handles, your steering wheel and other surfaces in your car. No sprays, no solutions, no cloths just a wand to swipe clean! My husband uses it to clean the car interior, all of his devices and even his toolbox treasures.  It works on clothes, coats, jackets as well.  This is a cool little product, which helps us sanitise and stay Covid-free.
